Carlson Aviation provides a complete range of superior, customer-preferred aviation services to the 'River City of the Dakotas' and the surrounding areas.
Located on the city-owned Chan Gurney Airport at Yankton, South Dakota. This award winning airport features a 6095 feet long, 100 feet wide runway and has 60 runway lights and 16 threshold lights. It also has a Visual Approach Slope Indicator(VASI) system that is maintained by the Federal Aviation Administration. The VHF Omnidirectional Range(VOR) Glide slope and Localizer are also maintained by the FAA. This runway also has a parallel taxiway with 188 lights.
Carlson Aviation hosts a number of events for both the general public and the aviation enthusiasts from around the country. Each year the airport has increased the number of aviation visitors and is a popular stop for many on their way to Oshkosh each summer! Chan Gurney Airport is managed by Gary Carlson of Carlson Aviation, who is a certified A & P mechanic. Gary and Katie Carlson are the FBO on the field.

The airport terminal features several amenties to welcome the visitors stopping in at the Chan Gurney Airport. The main terminal complex features a kitchen, comfortable lounge chairs and wireless internet.
The coffee is always on, day or night, and a microwave and refrigerator is available for the quick lunch or snack that pilots and their guests might need between stops.
Also available is a separate conference room and pilot lounge (snooze room). If you need some quiet down time, this room is climate controlled and can be darkened for resting or sleeping during the day.
Arrangements for catering, hotel-motel room rentals and vehicle rentals can be handled for visiting pilots and their guests by Carlson Aviation.
